Howard E. Zimmerman, 76, Potlatch

Howard E. Zimmerman 76, passed away peacefully at his home north of Potlatch, Nov. 16, 2011, after a short battle with cancer.

Howard was born June 30, 1935, to Edward and Alma Schaffer Zimmerman at Potlatch. Howard grew up in the Deep Creek area north of Potlatch and the Princeton area.

Howard entered into the United States Army and was honorably discharged June 26, 1958.

Howard was employed at Bennett Lumber at Princeton as a gang edger and retired from the mill in 1997 after 33 years of service.

He married and the couple had two sons. The couple later divorced. He married again in March of 1980, blending their families. The couple made their home north of Potlatch.

After his retirement, Mr. Zimmerman enjoyed working on the family homestead caring for his livestock, cutting wood and taking care of the ranch that he loved.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years; two sons; two daughters; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Raymond Zimmerman.

At his request, there will be no public services and memorials may be given to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund, Box 63, Potlatch, or to Family Home Care and Hospice.

Kramer Funeral Home of Palouse is handling the arrangements.
