Mrs. Gertrude Zenner, 81, died at the Lewiston Convalescent Center at 9:30 Monday evening of the infirmities of age and complications arising from influenza. She had lived all her life in the Palouse and Camas Prairie regions.
She was born August 10, 1891, at Sunset, Washington, near Rosalia, the daughter of Henry and Mary Zellerhoff. They moved to Colton in 1896 where she attended Guardian Angel School. She married Peter J. Zenner January 10, 1911 at St. Gall's Church at Colton.
They farmed the Uniontown-Colton area for 23 years, when they moved to Genesee and farmed near there for about 10 years. They retired to Lewiston for the next two years and then bought another farm near Nezperce in 1959 where they lived for 5 years, until retiring again to Lewiston in 1964.
Mr. and Mrs. Zenner had celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary January 10.
She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at Lewiston, and a member of its Altar Society. She had been an ardent gardener until ill health forced her to retire.
Mrs. Zenner is survived by her husband, J. Peter Zenner, at their home at 701 6th St., Lewiston; six sons and four daughters; Aloysius H. zenner, Andrew G. Zenner and Mrs. Pauline Hermann, of Genesee; Paul G. Zenner of Nezperce; Joseph B. Zenner and Harold J. Zenner of Craigmont; Mrs. Marie Fox Bremerton, Wash.; Mrs. Eva Welle, Uniontown and Mrs. Lucille Guettinger of Pullman; 44 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; a brother, Ben Zellerhoff, of Tacoma; and three sisters, Mrs. Annie Schimidt Uniontown; Mrs. Addie Shaw, Benton City, Wash.; and Miss Martha Zellerhoff of Colton. Rosary will be said Thursday at 7:30 at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home, with the funeral mass Friday at 10:30 at St. Galls Catholic church in Colton.
