Obituary - Everett Joseph Wishard

Everett Joseph Wishard, 88, Genesee

Everett Joseph Wishard passed on Feb. 27, 2012. He was born Jan. 16, 1924, in Lewiston, to Ella Green Wishard and Charles Berton (Bert) Wishard. Everett graduated from Genesee High School in 1941 and joined the U.S. Navy in January 1943. He served in the Pacific during World War II aboard the SS Edward J. Obrien.

He married Janet May Boyer March 8, 1952. They settled in Genesee, where they raised their three children. He was a member of the BPOE Elks, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion Bielenberg-Schooler, ID Post 58 where he served as Post Commander. In 2010 he received his 60-year membership certificate in the American Legion.

Everett served on the Genesee Volunteer Fire Department for 17 years, where he responded to accidents, fires and drove the ambulance. He also supported his children in the Genesee Rim Riders riding club, hauling kids and horses to events in the area. Everett worked for Kennecott Copper Mines in Arizona, Potlatch Forest Industries in Lewiston, Genesee Union Warehouse and Busch Distributing, Pullman. He and Janet retired in 1986 and became "snowbirds," traveling to Arizona where they spent the winters enjoying the sunshine, family and friends.

Everett is survived by his three children. He has four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. March 24 at the Genesee City Cemetery, with a greeting time following services at the Genesee Senior Center. Remembrances may be given to the American Legion Bielenberg-Schooler Post 58, Genesee, Idaho.
