Wilmon K. Warren, 76, Lewiston

Wilmon K. (Bill) Warren, 76, of Lewiston, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

Bill was born July 21, 1935, at Chickasha, Okla., to Floyd V. and Ina L. Brown Warren. The family lived in several areas prior to moving to Odessa, Wash. Bill and his high school sweetheart, Alyce Birge, were married in Coeur d'Alene on June 2, 1954. They lived in Odessa, Ritzville and Walla Walla, Wash., and settled in Moscow in 1969.

He worked as a brick mason for various contractors and was proud to have worked on many projects locally. Some projects included: the University of Idaho Law School, the Kibbie Dome, and the Vet Science Building at Washington State University. He was a member of the Bricklayer's Allied Craft Workers Union for over 38 years and retired in 1990. Bill joined the Moscow Moose Lodge in 1973, later becoming a Moose Legionnaire and was recognized with a Fellowship Degree of Honor in 1987.

After retirement, Bill and Alyce relocated to the Lewiston area, where he served as a volunteer at Hells Gate State Park as camp host and groundskeeper. In recognition of his outstanding service, he received the state of Idaho 2010 Volunteer of the Year award from the Idaho State Parks and Recreation.

Bill is survived by his three children of Moscow, Palouse, and Spokane; and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alyce; and a son, Floyd (Shorty) Warren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Short's Funeral Chapel in Moscow. Burial will follow at the Moscow Cemetery. A reception and luncheon will be conducted at the Moscow Moose Lodge on Main Street immediately following the service.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hells Gate State Park.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Short's Funeral Chapel of Moscow, and online condolences may be sent to www.shortsfuneralchapel.net.
