William (Bill) John Waller passed away peacefully at home March 7, 2012, after a long battle with cancer.
Bill was born at home in Sharpsburg, Pa., April 3, 1936, to Mathilda (Smorey) and William Fleming Waller. He has resided in Palouse for the past 26 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 to 1958. Bill worked at the Postal Service in Van Nuys, Calif., and Moscow for 30 years and retired in 1991.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years; son; two daughters, and son-in law; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; three grandsons; and a sister. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Vince Operstill; sister Rose Helfrich; and infant grandson William John Waller.
He loved his home on the Palouse and was always working outside on his tractor and riding lawn mowers. He volunteered at the Pullman Food Bank and did many things quietly to help others and never wanted anyone to know he was a kind and generous soul. He was a crossword puzzle whiz and did beautiful woodworking and loved model trains.
He had so many angels the past few years. His yard angel, his driveway angel, and his pasture angel. His hospice angel. He was so appreciative of his hospice team of caregivers. Also the care he received from St. Joseph Cancer Center in Lewiston and Pullman Regional Hospital.
Bill requested not to have a service, but for each of you to find someone who needs help and quietly provide for them in his memory. His three kitty angels at home, Pepper, Tricksie and Itty Kitty already miss him. He was a proud, quiet man and always tried to hide his gentle nature.
Thinking of You. You're always the first and last thing on this heart of mine - no matter where I go or what I do, I'm thinking of you. Love always.
Kramer Funeral Home of Palouse handled the arrangements.
