GENESEE -- Miriam W. Vandenburg, 76, known by many as Mrs. Van, died yesterday at Gritman Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are pending at Short's Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Vandenburg was born July 10, 1896, at Victor, Mont. She married Richard Vandenburg there on Oct. 28, 1925. They moved to the Genesee area in 1932, and he died in 1955.
Mrs. Vandenburg was a 57-year member of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Genesee Pythian Sisters, the World War I Tomer Butte Auxiliary, the Genesee Community Church and the Women's Fellowship. She was also a registrar for the Genesee voting precinct, and was an election judge for many years.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Jeanette) Schwenne and Mrs. Ralph (Margaret) Baumgartner, both of Genesee; Mrs. Louise McPherson of Fresno, Calif., and Mrs. Doris Stevens of Portland; a son, Leonard Vandenberg [sic] of Orofino; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Shirley of Belair, Texas, and Mrs. Margaret Olds of Missoula, Mont.; a brother Dwight Watters of Joplin, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
