Leah Sprecher, 85, Moscow

Leah Belle Marshall Sprecher, 85, of Moscow died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society, Moscow Village.

Leah was born Sept. 29, 1926, to Talmadge DeWitt and Dorothy DeVaney Marshall in McCune, Kan. She grew up and attended school at Oswego, Kan. She and Dr. Robert E. Sprecher were married Sept. 11, 1949, at Parsons, Kan. Having graduated from college at the age of 18, she taught school for 25 years, first in a one-room school that had all students for K-12. After moving to Moscow she was a full-time homemaker, raising her daughters, and after they graduated from high school, she worked for the University of Idaho with Marriott food service.

She enjoyed gardening, walking for miles, reading, hostessing events, even foreign UI students, teaching, reading, singing and learning. She taught Sunday school and was involved and supportive of many committees involving Trinity Baptist Church.

Dr. Sprecher died in September 1973.

Leah is survived by two daughters; five grandchildren; and three sisters. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Mein and Marjorie Geren.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church in Moscow. Leah will be returned to Kansas for burial with her husband.

The family suggests memorials be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 711 Fairview Drive, Moscow, ID 83843.
