Retired Genesee Farmer Dies At Gritman

George Fredrick Scharnhorst, 78, a retired Genesee farmer, died Saturday at Gritman Hospital.

He was born Dec. 10, 1898, in Genesee. He married Rose Lackey in Genesee, March 20, 1929. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Genesee.

Funeral services are scheduled Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church. The Rev. William Leed will officiate. Burial will be in the Genesee Lutheran Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Rose, at the Genesee home; a step-son, Earl Lackey, Lewiston; a brother, Chris, Moscow; five sisters, Mrs. George Jess, Spokane; Carrie Jutte and Mrs. Hugo Gehrke, both of Genesee; Marie Alm, Grangeville; Minnie Case, Clarkston; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Short's Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
