Willard Sampson, 79, a retired Genesee farmer and a former member of the Nez Perce County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, passed away May 24th on his way to St. Josph's [sic] hospital after suffering a heart attack at his home.
He was born June 29, 1897 at Uniontown to Thomas and Manie Sampson. He lived at Spalding and in the Genesee-Rimrock area until 1957 when he moved to Lewiston.
He married Ida L. Turner Feb. 1, 1922 at Spokane. They had no children.
He was a member of the ASCS board for a number of years and a 25 year member of the old Lewiston Orchards Grange.
He is survived by his widow at the family home; two brothers, Tully Sampson of Lapwai and Earl Sampson of Lewiston and three sisters, Bertha Lillie and Edyth Sampson, both of Lapwai, and Verna Butts of Walla Walla. A sister and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Malcom's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel. Burial at Normal Hill cemetery.
