JULIAETTA - John Boyd Rose, 81, died of a heart attack at his Juliaetta home Wednesday.
He was born on Dec. 10, 1917, in Garrison, N.M., to George and Rosa Fisher Rose.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces from February 1942 through November 1945.
On Jan. 8, 1944, he married Gracie Edith Rose at Clovis, N.M.
He retired from the Operating Engineers at San Jose, Calif., in 1981. After retirement, they moved to Lewiston. She died in 1991.
He moved to Juliaetta last year.
He enjoyed bowling and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Jack Rose of Orofino, Warren Rose of Seattle and Wally Rose in Alaska; a daughter, Vickie Weaver of Lapwai; five grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lewiston. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens at Lewiston.
