Emma M. Bailey Ringer passed away Dec. 26, 2011, at her home in Moscow.
Emma was born Jan. 28, 1925, to James and Zetta Merrill Bailey in Winifred, Mont. When Emma was 10 years old, her father died in August and her mother two months later. Emma's older brother, Bill and Maggie Hash, took her to live with them in Idaho.
Emma lived in the Potlatch and Harvard area throughout her childhood. Emma graduated from Potlatch High School.
On May 20, 1946, Emma married in Moscow. The couple lived in St. John, Wash., Palouse, and on a farm in Potlatch. In 1962, they moved to Moscow and Emma started work at the University of Idaho as a cashier, retiring many years later. The couple celebrated 65 years of marriage earlier this year.
Emma was active in a local bunco group and a pinochle group, where she had many friends. Emma was a former member of the Gritman Hospital Auxiliary in Potlatch. Emma and her husband spent many days on the lake looking for that perfect fish to bite their hook. They also spent a lot of time on their four-wheeler in the mountains.
Emma was preceded in death by her brothers, Top Bailey and Rusty Bailey; sisters, Doris O'Reilly and Ottie LaMaster; and her half-brothers Bill Hash, Ernie Hash and Francis Hash.
Emma is survived by her husband; daughters; grandson; as well as a great-grandson and great-granddaughters.
We will miss mom and grandma a lot! She lived a great life and lived it well!
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Nazarene in Princeton.
The family suggests memorials to the Fairview Village Estates, 403 Samaritan Lane, Moscow, ID 83843.
