Herschel Earl Pittman, 60, Passes Sunday, June 2

Herschel Earl Pittman, 60, Springfield, Oregon, passed away June 2. A resident of that area for the past 27 years, he was born at Bantry, North Dakota on January 9, 1908, and was married at Lewiston, Idaho on November 7, 1930 to Martha E. Luders, who survives.

Pittman was employed as a crane operator at Weyerhauser Co. He was a member of the Springfield Lutheran Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Lyle Pittman of Eugene; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Durfee of Gold Beach; his mother, Mrs. Lottie Baldwin of Portland; three sisters, Hazel Day of Estacada, Evelyn DeLong of Portland, and Nellie Leichenauer, living in Turkey; two brothers, Phillip Pittman of Coos Bay and Melvin Bender of Walla Walla, Washington; three grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at Burns-Fredericksen Chapel Thursday, June 6 at 1:30 p.m., Pastor Otto Franke officiating. Concluding services and interment followed at Lane Memorial gardens.

Mrs. Pittman's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Higgins of Eugene, Oregon and Mrs. Laura Johnson, an aunt, attended the services.
