Mrs. Jessie Peterson, 61, a resident of Lewiston since 1943, passed away Saturday at 11 a.m. at Tacoma of a heart attack. She had been visiting relatives there since Thursday.
A bookkeeper for the J.C. Penney Co. for 25 years, Mrs. Peterson retired in April, 1967. She was a member of the Altrusa Club, the Hammond Organ Society and the First Christian Church of Lewiston.
One of four children of William A. and Mary Cox, she was born November 28, 1906, at Leahy, Washington. As a child she came with her family to Genesee and lived there until 1927. She married Edwin Peterson at Spokane on July 23, 1923.
Four years after the couple were married, they came to Ferdinand and remained until 1943, when they came to Lewiston.
In addition to her husband at home, she is survived by a son, William E. Peterson, Lewiston; a daughter, Mrs. Geo. (Donna) White, Clarkston; a brother, Doyle Cox, Tacoma; two sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Cleo) Lyon, and Mrs. Ethel Bailey, both of Tacoma; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Stanley Lyman, officiating. Burial was at Normal Hill Cemetery.
