Obituary - Joshwa C. Merriken

Joshwa Merriken, 36, Lewiston

Joshwa Clyde Miller Merriken of Lewiston died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, south of Moscow. Joshwa was born in Moscow Sept. 12, 1975.

He graduated from Potlatch High School in 1994.

Josh was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed four-wheeler and motorcycle racing until an accident cost him the use of his arm. Josh had been employed at Bennett Lumber Products until he enrolled in school at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston.

In recent years he had become an active practitioner of Sufism and was ordained by the Knights of the Herald International Sufi Order this last spring.

He is survived by his precious daughters of Purdue, Ind., and Wisconsin; his father and stepmother of Lewiston; mother of Harvard; brother and sister-in-law of Potlatch; grandparents of Harvard, and grandmother of Pullman; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Joshwa was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Miller Merriken, and his stepfather, Dale Anderson.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 3 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Harvard Ladies Club Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a charity of donor's choice.
