Obituary - W. Bruce May

Walter Bruce May, 80, Juliaetta

Walter Bruce May, 80, of Juliaetta, passed away peacefully Feb. 12, 2012. Bruce, as he liked to be called, was born Aug. 9, 1931, in Troy. As a boy he lived with his family on American Ridge and what would ultimately be where he made his home, the Juliaetta-Kendrick valley.

Over the years he's made his mark on the two towns with his inability to meet a stranger and his ability to elevate any conversation he came across. Always a thoughtful man, the best thought that ever occurred to him came to fruition when he married the love of his life, Dorothy Warren, Sept. 5, 1951.

As a youth he attended college, but gave it up so Dorothy and he could start a family, although he finally finished in 1982, receiving a bachelor's degree in business management from LCSC. The woods he worked most of his adult life became something of a second home, a place where many a story was born. An avid conversationalist, Bruce never found a topic that he couldn't put his own unique spin on, entertaining and earning laughs and smiles from any and all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. A genuine people person, even in his later years, when he began his steady decline, his honesty, intelligence and quick wit remained firmly intact. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many.

Bruce is survived by three children; three grandchildren; sister; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends who were very special to him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy; his youngest son, Moose; his parents, Walt and Norma; and a sister, DeeDee.

There will be a celebration of life later in the spring at Centennial Park in Juliaetta per his request. Any memorial contributions can be sent to Kendrick Juliaetta Ambulance.
