Obituary - Lillian M. Lindsay

Lillian M. Lindsay, 96, Quincy, Calif.

Lillian Mae Gravert Lindsay, 96, gracefully passed Tuesday morning, July 2003, at Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento, Calif.

She was born to Lela and Simon Kerns Bailey July 31, 1906, in Troy, Idaho. She had lived in Plumas County in northeast California from 1928 to 1964.

She and her first husband Hans (Dutch) Gravert had owned and operated the former Pacific Crate and Lumber Co. in Gray s Flat, located along the Northfork of Feather River in Plumas County. Following the sale of the company in 1954, they purchased the former Associated Truck Stop located in East Quincy, Calif., operating it until Dutch's tragic death in 1959.

In 1964 she moved to Paradise, Calif., and married George Lindsay. She lived there until moving to Elk Grove, Calif., in 1998 to be closer to her family. While living in Paradise, she had been employed at Cypress Acres Convalescent Hospital, as a CNA for a number of years.

Lillian had been a longtime member of the Quincy Emblem Club and the Three Links Club of Quincy, along with being a life member of the Quincy Rebekah Lodge. While residing in the Quincy area, she attended the Quincy Community United Methodist Church. As a great cook, she gained great pleasure in preparing meals for family and friends.

Lillian is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sharon Gravert of Sacramento, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Joan and Joe Becker of Yuba City, Calif.; sister Violet Scott of Yakima; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Along with her two husbands Hans (Dutch) Gravert who passed away in 1959 and George Lindsay who passed away in 1978, she was preceded in death by one brother and six sisters.

A celebration of Lillian's life will be at 11 a.m. July 28 at the graveside located in the Old Quincy (Calif.) Cemetery. An opportunity to express your condolences along with signing the memorial guest register is available online at www.fehrmanmortuary.com.
