David G. Kuehl, Genesee Retailer, Dies at 86

David Gustav Kuehl, known in Genesee as the former owner of a clothing store, died of lung cancer at Good Samaritan Nursing Home yesterday. He was 86.

Born Aug. 5, 1891, to Henry and Alpha Kuehl at Winlock, Wash., Kuehl graduated from Washington State University, where he was a noted baseball player.

He opened a clothing store in Uniontown in 1923. Twenty years later, he moved to Genesee and opened another store, which he operated until his retirement in the mid-1960s.

In 1924, he married Charlotte Rogers at Winona, Wash. She survives at the family home.

Kuehl was a 50-year member of the American Legion and the Unity Lodge 32, AF & A. M., and a member of the Lily Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

In addition to his widow, survivors include: a daughter, Bonnie Stanley of Roseburg, Ore.; a brother, Leslie Kuehl of Clarkston and one grandson.

Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Short's Funeral Chapel.
