GENESEE -- Mrs. Anna Kretschmer, 92, a Genesee resident for 85 years, died Sunday at 3 a.m. of pneumonia at Paradise Villa, Moscow. She had been ill for three days.
Mrs. Kretschmer was a farmer's wife from the day of her marriage to Otto Kretschmer until the time of his death in March 1956. They were married on Aug. 10, 1889 at Genesee.
Born the daughter of Christian and Agnes (Sneider) Baldus at Eisern, Germany on Feb. 23, 1878, Mrs. Kretschmer came to Genesee with her family in 1895. She remained here the rest of her life.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church for 85 years and participated in the parish altar society.
Survivors include four nieces, Mrs. William J. (Elizabeth) Bendel, Troy, Mrs. Herman (Rosella) Bielenberg, Genesee, Mrs. Louis (Irene) Agost, Spokane, and Mrs. Wesley (Helen) Steel, Anaheim, Calif.
Rosary services will be Tuesday night at 7:30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Genesee. Requiem mass will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Laffey, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the Catholic Cemetery at Genesee. Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
