UNIONTOWN -- Retired farmer and former Uniontown councilman Martin Joseph Kinzer, 69, died at his home early Tuesday morning. He had been in declining health for the past year.
Kinzer was born in Uniontown, April 16, 1906, to Peter and Katie Kinzer. He attended school in Uniontown. He married the former Irene Wittman, March 30, 1937. The couple farmed in the Uniontown area.
Kinzer was a past grand knight of the Uniontown Knights of Columbus, a lifelong member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, a past director of the Uniontown Cooperative Association and a member of the Lewiston Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife at the family home; his mother; a son William; two daughters, Janis Whitcomb and Karen Kinzer, all of Uniontown; five sisters, Amelia Konen, Great Falls, Mont.; Eva Herzog, Ferdinand; Tillie Meditz, Seattle, Wash.; Caroline Frei, Craigmont; Vivian Butterfield, Tacoma, Wash.; five brothers, Luke, Uniontown; Jake and Ike, Tacoma, Ted, Genesee; Simon, Clarkston; and 12 grandchildren.
Rosary will be said Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in St. Boniface Church. Requiem mass will be celebrated there Friday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Cornelius A. Verdoorn will officiate.
Kimball's Funeral Home, Pullman, is in charge of arrangements.
