Kate C. Katterle, 92, of Pullman, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at Latah Health services in Moscow of causes related to age.
Kate was born June 21, 1908, at Potlatch, Idaho, to George and Minnie Carlson Fulton. She grew up in Potlatch and Spokane, graduating from Lewis and Clark High School of Spokane in 1926.
She attended Washington State University and graduated in 1930 following whlch she taught beginning speech at WSU. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and was also interested in drama, taking part in different college plays.
She married Zeno B. Katterle in 1931. Kate entertained extensively for her husband in his profession as the dean of education at WSU. Followng his death in 1969, she traveled extensively for 15 years. She was well known for the informative travel programs she presented to many area groups.
She was a member of the WSU Women's Faculty Club, and was a past president of Chapter S, P.E.O, and of the Pullman Historical Club. She served twice as a delegate to the national meetlng of P.E.O.
She is survived by her son, Zeno B. Katterle Jr., of Aloha, Ore.; her daughter, Eleanor Davidson of Florence, Ore.; a brother, Carl Fulton of Pebble Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristen.
At Kate's request, no services will be held. Private graveside services will take place at Pullman City Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman.
