Obituary - Jerome M. Kasper

Genesee Area Man Crushed To Death By Farm Tractor

GENESEE -- A tractor accident Friday afternoon claimed the lfie of Jerome M. (Jerry) Kasper, 32, a Nez Perce County farmer who resided four miles south of here.

The accident occurred about 4:15 p.m. when Kasper was attempting to unload his tractor from a truck at Broemeling Welding Shop here. Apparently the starter was not working and while working on it it started rolling toward the front of the truck and fell to Kasper's side. It pinned him between the ground and the tractor, killing him instantly.

He was born Aug. 12, 1937, at Lewiston, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Kasper. He was a farmer all of his life.

Kasper attended St. Mary's Parochial School and was graduated from Genesee High School in 1955. He attended the University of Idaho, Moscow, for two years.

He married Raylene Baune July 1, 1961, at Nezperce. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Genesee Jaycees.

Besides his widow at the family home he is survived by three sons, Michael, Jeffrey and Kevin; two daughters, Beth and Karen; his mother, Mrs. Mary Kasper, Genesee; three brothers, Donald and Kenneth, both of California, and Eugene, Moscow; and two sisters, JoAnn Kasper, Lewiston, and Mrs. Ronald (Judy) Druffel, Colton.

The body was taken to Short's Funeral Home, Moscow, and will be transferred to Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home at Lewiston. Arrangements are pending.

GENESEE -- The funeral for Jerome (Jerry) Kasper, 32, Nez Perce County farmer who died Friday, was Monday morning at 10:30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church here with the Rev. Fr. B. C. McCarthy, officiating. Mrs. Wilson Esser was organist, and Mrs. Martin Stout was soloist, both of Genesee.

Pallbeareres were Robert Clyde, Moscow; John Baldus, Wayne Schwenne, Kent Broemeling and Martin Stout, all of Genesee; and Roy Kasper, Lewiston. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery, Genesee, with Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home, Lewiston, in charge of arrangements.
