Obituary - Edward F. Jutte

Funeral Thursday For Edward Jutte Of Genesee

Funeral services for Edward Frank Jutte, a Genesee area native and retired farmer, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church, Genesee. The Rev. William Leed will officiate and burial will be in the Genesee Lutheran Cemetery.

Jutte, 79, died Sunday at Gritman Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining health for several years.

The son of Peter and Veronica Dahl Jutte, he was born Sept. 19, 1896. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Genesee. He was a former member of the Genesee City Council.

He married Carrie Scharnhorst Jan. 17, 1918, at Genesee. She survives at the Genesee home. The couple farmed for many years west of Genesee. They moved into town about 20 years ago. Jutte was known as an enthusiastic gardener and many beautiful flowers and shrubs enhanced the home at the west entrance to Genesee. The Juttes built a smaller home about two years ago a short distance east of the family home and Jutte put in many hours grooming a new lawn and plantings.

He had suffered from an ailing heart recently and was hospitalized four days before his death.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Grace Lyon of Moscow and Gloria Virak of Tacoma, Wash.; a son, Wayne Jutte, Lewiston; a sister, Rose Peterson, Auburn, Wash.; a brother, Leonard Dertinger, Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church or to Lutherhaven Bible Camp, Coeur d'Alene.
