Yvonne B. Jones, 70, a retired emergency room nurse, died of leukemia Friday morning at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center at Lewiston. She had been ill for five years.
Mrs. Jones owned the Riverview Rest Home at Clarkston for a short time and another care home in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley for a number of years. She was an emergency room nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital and later served as receptionist for Dr. O.V. Bauman.
She was born Feb. 1, 1916, at Moscow, to Thomas A. and Leona K. Ball. She lived her early years in the Moscow-Pullman-Colton area. She and Alford F. Jones were married April 11, 1936, at Colton.
From 1938 to 1941, the Joneses made their home at Spokane. From 1941 to 1943, they lived at Walla Walla, where she was a bookkeeper in a bookstore.
Mrs. Jones was a member of the Idaho Nurses Program and a communicant of the Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband at their Lewiston home; two sons, Paul Jones of Puyallup, Wash., and Bernard Jones of Lewiston; two daughters, Diana Mathis of Spokane and Karen Sattler of Clarkston; a brother, Bernard Ball of Seattle; two sisters, Bette Holman of John Day, Ore., and Elaine Gette of Santa Ana, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
A wake will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at the family home at 1114 11th Ave., Lewiston. The body will be cremated.
The family suggests memorials to the Leukemia Society of America, 1411 Fourth Ave., Suite 901, Seattle, Wash. 98101.
Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home at Lewiston is in charge of arrangements.
