Johnson was born Oct. 17, 1937, the son of Jess and Pearl Johnson of Genesee. He attended Genesee schools and graduated in 1955. He attended the University of Idaho for one year.

From 1960 to 1962, Johnson served in the U.S. Army. He later farmed with his father on the family homestead located just north of here.

He was a director of the Genesee Union Warehouse Board and served as a rural fire commissioner. He was a past director of the Latah County Wheat Growers Association. He was a 4-H leader and a member of the Vandal Booster Club.

On June 29, 1968, he married Charlotte Hofmann at Rosalia, Wash. A former Clarkston teacher, she survives him at the family home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Julie, 12, Cindy, 10, and Christa, 4; his parents at Genesee; and a sister, Jane Luke at Pasadena, Calif.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Genesee Community Church. A private burial will precede the service.

The family suggests memorials be given to the Genesee Community Church or the Genesee Ambulance Fund.
