MOSCOW -- William Charles Jenkins, 87, a longtime Genesee area farmer, died at the Latah County Nursing home Sunday.
Jenkins moved from his ranch into Genesee when he retired in 1957. He had been a confirmed member of St. John Lutheran Church at Genesee since 1922.
Jenkins, who was born June 29, 1886, was a native of Ashville, N.C. He moved to the Lewis-Clark Empire in 1902.
On Dec. 14, 1922, he married Bessie D. Herman at Spokane. She survives at the family home.
Other survivors include two sons, Kenneth Jenkins, Genesee, and Arthur Jenkins, Beaverton, Ore.; six grand-children and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church at Genesee, with the Rev. William Leed officiating. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery with Short's Funeral Home of Moscow in charge of arrangements.
The family suggests memorials to St. John Lutheran Chruch or the Genesee Ambulance fund.
