Gilmore Iverson, 91

Gilmore Iverson, 91, died peacefully March 2, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society Village in Moscow.

Gilmore was born Oct. 26, 1920, at Moscow, to Gilbert and Bertha Nilsen Askeland Iverson.

He attended Blaine Grade School and graduated from Moscow High School in 1938.

Gilmore began farming in the Blaine area the day he graduated from high school, at which time he accepted the responsibility for the welfare of his widowed mother and 9-year-old brother.

He married Joyce Doris Davidson April 24, 1943, at Coeur d' Alene.

Gilmore and Doris raised five children on the farm until the untimely death of Doris in 1969.

He served as a road commissioner on the North Latah County District and one term on the Genesee Rural Fire District. He was a 4-H leader and was active in the Aspendale Gun Club.

He married Bettie Thomsen at Moscow and became stepfather to her son.

After Bettie's death he married again.

He retired from farming in 1983 and moved to Lewiston in 1986, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, woodworking and restoring Ford Mustangs.

In 2009, he moved back to Moscow to Fairview Village, where he enjoyed the kindness and friendship of the staff and residents.

Gilmore is survived by his brother ; his five children; a stepson; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the Fairview Village, 403 Samaritan Lane Moscow, ID 83843.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Moscow.
A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow in the church fellowship hall. A private burial will be at the Moscow Cemetery.
