Byran Ross Hunt of Troy died Monday, October 3, 2011, in Yakima while visiting his sister. He was 79. Byran was born April 3, 1932, at Moscow to Samuel and Ruth Germer Hunt.
He grew up and attended school at Moscow. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea until 1954.
After his discharge he went to California and married in Reno, Nev., on Aug. 27, 1954. They made their home in California where Byran worked in a plywood manufacturing plant and a mattress factory and drove truck.
In 1971 they moved to Troy, where Byran worked for A.P. Green Brick Factory, and in 1975 began Hunt Wood Products. He continued the business until his retirement when his son took over the operation.
Byran was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed woodworking at his home. He will be remembered for his love of family.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years at their home near Troy; his sons and daughters-in-law of Mexico, Mo., of Troy, and of Moscow; a stepson of Danville, Calif.; along with 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; as well as a sister of Yakima; and a brother of Coeur d'Alene.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Orley Hunt; two half-sisters, Goldie Chaney and Ruby Hess; and two stepbrothers, Harold and Gerald Hunt.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Short's Funeral Chapel in Moscow. Burial with military honors will follow at the Moscow Cemetery. A covered-dish dinner and time of fellowship will follow at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Troy.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Troy Ambulance Fund or to the Life Flight Program.
