Kathryn passed away Oct. 2, 2011, at Orchards Rehabilitation and Care Center in Lewiston. She was born Sept. 22, 1920, in Seattle to Francis and Georgie O'Keefe.
She was raised in Bovill and graduated from high school there.
Kathryn married Glen Hughes in 1938 and moved to Lewiston in 1946.
She began working as a secretary for Potlatch Forests Inc. in 1948, when it was located in the Breier Building in downtown Lewiston. She worked at Potlatch for 11 years and quit her job to travel for a year with her husband. She was also employed as a medical transcriptionist for the orthopedic office consisting of Drs. Douglas and Colburn. She was employed there for 25 years.
Kathryn loved working in her flower garden, and she especially loved her roses. She also did many paint-by-number pictures when she traveled with Glen, and still has some of the pictures hanging in her family room.
Her children and grandchildren were very special to her, and she was the happiest when she was surrounded by all of her family and they were involved in a big game of 31.
Kathryn is survived by her daughter and husband of Lewiston; son and wife of Lewiston; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews, family friends; as well as her close friend; and special little friend.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; her parents; brothers, Jack and Buford O'Keefe; and sisters, Marjorie Torgerson and Frances Hammond.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be conducted at 2 p.m. next Saturday at Mountain View Funeral Home, 3521 Seventh St., Lewiston.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
