Fred Hove, 86

Fred Hove, 86, a lifelong resident of Genesee, a former state legislator and Latah County commissioner, died at 1 a.m. Sunday at Gritman Memorial Hospital, Moscow, where he had been a patient seven days.

Hove, a Democrat, was elected state representative from Latah County in 1932 and again in 1934. He served one term as Latah County commissioner.

He was a director of the Genesee Union Warehouse, a grain cooperative, for 35 years. He was also a charter member of the Bielenberg-Schooler post of the American Legion at Genesee.

Hove was born at Genesee Oct. 7, 1893, the son of John and Clara Hove, pioneer settlers of Genesee. He enlisted in the Navy during World War I and served 15 months.

He married Evelyn Tesch at Lewiston May 23, 1923.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Dolores DePell of Genesee; a brother, Kermit Hove of Clarkston; two sisters, Ella Meeke of Moscow and Inger Byrne of Seattle; and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Genesee. The Rev. Edward T. Cope will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Genesee.
