Obituary - Evelyn H. Hove

Evelyn H. Hove, 84, lived north of Genesee

Evelyn Helen Hove, 84, a retired teacher and Genesee farmer's widow, died of causes incident to aging at 10:30 a.m. Fnday at St. Joseph's Hospital. She had been a patient there for 10 days.

She and her late husband, Fred Hove farmed north of Genesee for 50 years, and she was involved in Genesee church and community activities through the years.

She was born March 8, 1899, at Plover, Wis., to Fred and Mary Tesch. The family moved to the Moscow area when she was 5, and she graduated from the Ursuline Academy at Moscow. She later attended the old Lewiston State Normal School and graduated in 1922.

She taught in grade schools on Big Bear Ridge near Kendrick, at Spring Valley near Troy, the old Smith and Aurura schools in southern Latah County and later at Longview, Wash.

While teaching at Smith School, she met Fred Hove of Genesee. They were married at Lewiston May 23, 1923, and settled on the farm. He died Dec. 16, 1979.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Genesee and a member of its Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of America. She was a charter member of the Bielenberg-Schooler post auxiliary of the American Legion and a member of the Royal Neighbors of America lodge at Moscow.

Survivors include a daughter, Dolores DePell of Genesee, a brother, Henry Tesch of Portland; two grandchildren, Fred DePell of Spokane and Marla Morscheck of Lewiston, and four great-grandsons.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church at Genesee. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Edward Cole as celebrant. Burial will be at Genesee Catholic Cemetery with Short's Funeral Chapel of Moscow in charge.
