Dawn Renee Heustis, 60, Redmond

Dawn Renee Heustis, 60, of Redmond, Wash., died Nov. 15, 2011, at Overlake Hospital Medical Center in Bellevue, Wash., after a long-term illness, tick-borne lyme disease and cancer.

Dawn was born Aug. 27, 1953 in Moscow. She grew up in northern Idaho and lived in St. Maries throughout her high school years. Dawn graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and Elementary Education and later received her Master of Science from the University of Oregon at Eugene for the Young, Severely Handicapped.

Dawn was best known for her work in early childhood education for the young, severely handicapped and pursued her professional career in the areas of research and curriculum development for the infant, preschool special-needs child.

Dawn loved the outdoors, sports, gospel country music and laughter. She was dedicated to improving her personal life goals and will be remembered for her sense of humor and being a strong, faith-filled woman. She will always be remembered as a beautiful flower.

Survivors include her father; her sister; her aunts and uncles; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service for Dawn was held Tuesday at Short's Funeral Chapel in Moscow, and she was laid to rest at the Moscow Cemetery.
