Wayne Gerold Heimgartner passed away Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at his family home near Juliaetta. He was a lifelong resident and farmer on Potlatch Ridge.
Wayne was born May 20, 1922, to Robert and Bessie Hoisington Heimgartner.
He graduated from Genesee High School and entered the U.S. Marine Corps the following year. He was stationed in the South Pacific during World War II and was a member of Company B, Marine Amphibious Corps Signal Battalion.
He married Ruth Hunter March 16, 1946, in Los Angeles. She died Nov. 4, 1996.
Wayne was a member of the Cattlemen's Association, Kendrick Grange and the Cottonwood Creek Community Church.
Wayne was a quiet, loving man who enjoyed spending time with his sons, sisters, nieces and nephews. He was especially proud of his four granddaughters, Hayley, Kylee, Cody and Desire.
He is survived by his sons, Harold of Clarkston and Allen of Potlatch; and three sisters, Lillie McCall and Laverne Harri, both of Clarkston, and Betty Surbough of Othello, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Leslie, Everett, Elmer, Lawrence and Roy.
The visitation is from noon to 5:30 p.m. today at Malcom's Funeral Home in Lewiston. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston.
Memorial donations may be made to the Juliaetta-Kendrick Ambulance Fund, the Cottonwood Creek Community Church or a charity of choice.
