Ruth Heimgartner, 76, Juliaetta farmer

MOSCOW -- Ruth Heimgartner, 76, Juliaetta resident and farmer, died at Gritman Medical Center here of cancer.

She was born June 22, 1920, at Tours, France, to William and Yvonne Bourgeault Hunter. The family came to the United States in 1921, settling at Los Angeles, where she attended school. She graduated from high school in Los Angeles in 1938.

After graduation she attended the Los Angeles Junior College, graduating with a business degree. She then worked for many businesses in the Los Angeles area.

During World War II, she was a member of the ambulance corps in the Los Angeles area.

She married Wayne Heimgartner March 16, 1946, at Los Angeles. The couple moved to Juliaetta, where they farmed.

She was a member of the Idaho Women in Agriculture and presented the "Bread in a Bag" program to fourth-graders. She was also involved with St. Joseph's Auxillary, making toys for children.

She was a member of the Stoney Point Friendship Club and the Cottonwood Creek Community Church.

She enjoyed quilting, needlework, traveling and attending reunions with her husband.

She is survived by her husband at their Juliaetta home; two sons, Harold Heimgartner of Clarkston and Allen Heimgartner of Potlatch, Idaho; two sisters, Vickie Kimball of Charlottesville, Va., and Helen Slemt of Lewiston; and four granddaughters.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today at Malcom's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel at Lewiston.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Malcom's. Burial will follow at the Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens at Lewiston.

Memorials may be made to the Juliaetta and Kendrick Ambulance Fund or the Cottonwood Creek Community Church Fund.
