Nellie Marie Heimgartner, 82, of Juliaetta, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2002, at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center at Lewiston.
She was born in Brentford S.D, Oct. 14, 1919, to Charles D. and Susie A. Mason Fey. The fifth of ten children, she grew up in Cresbard, S.D. where she graduated from high school in 1937. Soon after, the family moved to Idaho, settling on Fix Ridge for a short time before moving to Kendrick.
Nellie married Lawrence William Heimgartner Feb. 15, 1939, at Lewiston. Farming was their life, living on Potlatch Ridge a short time and American Ridge for many years. They retired in 1982 and moved to Juliaetta. Nellie loved her family above all else. She was involved in 4-H, Grange, Rock Clubs, Garden Club and wrote family genealogy books.
Surviving are her three children, Janice and Dick Groseclose, Joanne and David Johnson, Ray and Dede Heimgartner; grandchildren, Christy and Dale Sullivan, Clint and Heidi Johnson, Karen and Shawn Hasenoehrl, Karla and Scott Peterson, Debra and Steven Slaney, Marilou Groseclose, Zachary Heimgartner and acquired granddaughter, Amy and Daryl Nap; great-grandchildren, Dayne and Clint Sullivan; Bryan and Michael Johnson, Jennifer, Sara, Andrea, Lauren, Kalyn Hasenoehrl, Jason and Melissa Peterson and Meaghan and Erica Slaney; three sisters, Eva Rosenau, Vivian Daniels and Lois Fraser; and one brother, Ted Fey.
Nellie was preceded in death by her husband in 1997; two sisters, Sue Nicholas and Polly Augustine; three brothers, Bud, Roy and Harlan Fey.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon at Malcom's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel in Lewiston. A service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Malcom's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Fix Ridge Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to the SJRMC Hospice or J-K Ambulance Fund.
