Obituary - Alzina R. Hayden

Alzina Hayden, 85, Passes Away July 6

Mrs. Alzina Hayden died from the effects of a stroke, Thursday, July 6th, at the Lewiston Orchards Nursing Home, where she had been a patient for the past seventeen months.

Alzina Rebecca Hayden was born Feb. 13, 1882 in Story City, Iowa and as a child came west with her family to live in Pullman, Washington. As a young woman she homesteaded in the Grimes Lake area near Coulee City, Washington. In 1905 she married Lester C. Hayden Sr. at Mold, Washington where they lived until 1920, when they moved to Genesee where they had resided since. Her husband preceded her in death in 1942.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Emmett (Ora) Stout of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Mrs. Tom (Bonnie) Ikard of Lewiston, and Mrs. Lloyd (Nelle) Wilson of Genesee, and two sons, Lester C. Jr. of Spokane and Jack of Moscow; one sister, Mrs. Edward Knight of Edmonds, Washington; nine granchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Genesee Community Church, Saturday, July 8th with Short's Chapel in charge. Services were conducted by the Rev. J. Stanly Lyman, of the Lewiston Christian Church. Organist was Mrs. Elvon Hampton and soloist was Wayne Hampton.

Pallbearers were: Frank Ikard, Ray Qualey, Jerry Hines, Bill Clare, Tom Hughes, and Joe Fram, all grandsons of the deceased.

Attending from out-of-town were: Mr. and Mrs. William Clare, and Stan, and Miss Marie Clark of Portland; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fram of Yakima, Washington; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hines and Marie, Mrs. Happie Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ikard, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ikard, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hughes, all of Lewiston; Mr. and Mrs. Ross Trout, of Davenport, Washington; Harold Lough, Kyle E. Laughlin, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Wicks, H. R. Short, Everett Will, Elmore E. Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Clyde, Gwen Cochrane, Mrs. Ken Hunter, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Kerr, Mr. and Mrs. George Benson, and Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Davis of Moscow.

Funeral Service Held For Mrs. Alzina Hayden

GENESEE -- The funeral for Mrs. Alzina R. Hayden, 89, Genesee, who died Thursday, was at Genesee Community Church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Stanly Lyman officiated.

Organist was Mrs. Wayne Hampton and vocalist, Wayne Hampton.

Pallbearers were Frank Ihard [sic], Raymond Qualey, William Clare, Gerald Hines, Thomas Hughes, and Joseph Fram.

Burial was at Genesee City Cemetery, with Short's Chapel Moscow, in charge.
