GENESEE -- Ollie Hammer, 51, well-known Genesee resident, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14 at his home in Genesee.
He was born November 19, 1918 at Williams Montana, the son of Gunder and Minnie Marie (Craig) Hammer.
Ollie received his early education in the Kellogg public schools and later
attended Wentworth Academy in Kansas City and two years at the University of Idaho.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and later was an instructor
training Navy pilots.
He was employed at the Moscow Steam Laundry for several years.
Survivors include a daughter, Karla, of Long Beach, California, now attending
Stanford University at Palo Alto, and his wife, Dorothy of West Minister, California,
and several cousins.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 1:00 p.m from the Genesee Community church, with the Rev. Christian Oswood, pastor of St. John's and Valley Lutheran parishes officiating. Burial in the City Cemetery.
Organist Mrs. Leon Danielson, accompanied Sharon Hake, vocalist, who sang, "There's a Wideness in God's Mercy," and "Jesus, Saviour, Pilot Me."
Pallbearers were Phil Hermann, Don Hermann, Clifford Hermann, Robert Herman, Archie Ryker, and H.J. Hynes.
