Retired farmer L. F. Grieser dies

Lawrence F. Grieser, 76, a retired farmer, died Friday at 9:35 a.m. at his home at 634 Bryden Ave. He had suffered from Parkinson's disease, a form of palsy, since 1920.

He moved to Lewiston in 1959 after he retired from farming, and spent much of his time tending his garden and lawn.

The son of Adolph and Theresa Grieser, he was born April 1, 1899, at Thorncreek, Idaho. He lived there until 1926 and then moved to Moscow where he farmed. Seven years later, he moved back to Thorncreek where he again worked as a farmer.

He attended the University of Idaho and Gonzaga University for one year each. He never married. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Martin Grieser of Genesee and Edward Grieser of Lenore; and three sisters, Mary Kambitsch of Lewiston, Emeline Krier of Genesee and Edna Duganof Mesa, Ariz.

Rosary will be recited Sunday night at 8 at St. mary's Catholic Church at Genesee. Funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Genesee church with the Rev. William Dohman as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Genesee Catholic Cemetery.
