Obituary - Glatha G. Giese

Glatha Giese Was Native Of Lewis-Clark Empire

Mrs. Glatha Gwendolyn Giese, 66, who died at St. Joseph's Hospital Thursday at 9:10 p.m., had been a lifelong resident of the Lewis-Clark empire and a resident of Lewiston since 1964. Death was due to pneumonia.

She was born Aug. 31, 1906, at Randall Flats west of Troy, Ida., the daughter of Roy C. and Elmina Woodruff. The family moved to Moscow in 1911, and she attended schools there.

She married George Giese Dec. 29, 1925, at Lewiston. They farmed near Juliaetta until 1964. A son, Bruce, now operates the farm. Mrs. Giese was a member of the Fix Ridge Women's Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary, the Lutheran Women's Club at Juliaetta and Grace Lutheran Church at Lewiston.

Other survivors include a son, Bruce, Juliaetta; a daughter, Mrs. Gwendolyn Poleson, her mother, Mrs. Elmina Woodruff, and two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Perry and Mrs. Darlene Lane, all of Lewiston; three brothers, Patrick Woodruff, Lewiston, John Woodruff, Coeur d'Alene, and Paul Woodruff, Blythe, Calif., and five grandchildren. A fourth brother, Arthur Woodruff, preceded her in death.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Paul Wietzke of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at the Fix Ridge Cemetery near Juliaetta.
