Hilda B. Evans, Rancher's Widow, Dies At Genesee

Mrs. Hilda B. Evans, widow of retired Genesee rancher, Roy H. Evans, died yesterday morning at 9:50 at Gritman Memorial hospital, Moscow. She had been ill for two weeks.

The Evanses had farmed south of Genesee until they retired in 1952. She had lived at Genesee from the time she was 17, and besides a year at Pasco in 1913-1914, she had lived previously in Oregon. Mrs. Evans was born Feb. 2, 1897 at Burns, Ore., to Joseph J. and Viola Powers Tupker.

She married Evans at Genesee Jan. 21, 1920. He was a World War I veteran. She was a member of the Bielenberg-Schooler American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence R. (Ema [sic] Lou) Harris, Genesee, and Mrs. David L. (Mary Ann) Lange, Spokane. A grandson Samuel Roy Lange of Spokane, and a sister Mrs. Thelma Hoorman, Genesee, also survive.

The funeral will be Tuesday morning at 10 at Malcom's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel with the Rev. J. Stanley Lyman of Lewiston officiating. Burial will be at the Genesee city cemetery.

The family has suggested memorial contributions to the North Idaho Children's Home.
