GENESEE -- George W. Erickson, Genseee rancher and active community leader, died about 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Robert Gray farm about five miles southeast of Genesee.
Erickson, about 60, had waded through snow to a shed about 100 yards distant from the Gray residence to start a tractor. After an apparent attempt to start the tractor Erickson was on his way back to the house when he collapsed and died.
The body is at Short's Chapel, Moscow, pending arrangements.
Erickson was elected by Latah County Wool Growers Ass'n to be its first president in March, 1967. He was also secretary of Genesee Civic Ass'n and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Erickson, who ranched one mile east of Genesee, is survived by his wife, Hila, four children, Mrs. Roger (Lavon) Bonholdt, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Jack (Beverly) Jacobs, Kellogg; two sons, Duane Erickson, Federal Way, Wash.; his mother, Mrs. Louise Erickson, Clarkston, a brother, Walter Erickson, Genesee; two sisters, one in the eastern United States and Mrs. George Sumerside, Libby, Mont.; several grandchildren.

GENESEE -- The funeral for George Erickson, 62, who died Wednesday evening, was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church under the direction of Short's Funeral Home of Moscow.
The Rev. Christian Oswood officiated. Mrs. Martin Stout sang hymns, accompanied by Mrs. Delbert Kambitsch.
Private committal services were conducted at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens, Lewiston.
Pallbearers were Jess Johnson, Jack Nebelsieck, Stanford Evans, Eugene Woodruff, Jay Nelson, all of Genesee, and Fay Kossman, Moscow.
