Carl John Elmen, 40, a native of Stites, was found dead at the Konkolville Motel at 10 a.m. November 8th.
His family said death came from complications of diabetes from which he had suffered for 30 years. His body was found by a sister, Louise Phillips, of Orofino.
Elmen had been hospitalized from Aug. 15 until last Saturday when he was discharged. He was staying at the motel temporarily until he found an apartment.
A graduate of Genesee high school in 1954 he attended Kinman Business University in Spokane and worked in the Spokane area until moving to Orofino in 1966. He worked in the office for Dworshak Dam Construction during the construction of Dworshak Dam. He was born Feb. 5, 1936 at Stites, the son of Carl and Beulah Elmen.
He was married to Donna Zoech Aug. 26, 1959, at Spokane. They were later divorced.
John is survived by a son, Carl Edward Elmen of Spokane; his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Grieser of Lewiston; his sisters, Louise Phillips, and a brother, Perry Sands of Harbor, Ore.
Graveside services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, November 11th, with Father Xavier of St. Theresa's Catholic Church of Orofino in charge of services.
Pallbearers: Orrin Kambitsch, Genesee; Charles Calland, Orofino; Tim J. Sands, Lewiston; Donald Morgan, Roger Morgan, Reinhardt Schroeder, all of Lenore.
Burial was at Pine Grove Cemetery with Trenary's Funeral Home of Kooskia in charge of arrangements.
