Robert D. (Bob) Cone, 81, passed away early Saturday morning, Feb. 25, 2012, at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow.
He was born April 12, 1930, at Princeton, to Floyd and Catherine (Rueppel) Cone.
Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the National Guard and was later discharged Sept. 7, 1956, as a sergeant first class.
He married Dec. 23, 1951, and the couple later divorced.
He later met and was a companion with Bea Shipwash, and she recently passed away.
Mr. Cone was employed with the Idaho state highway department and retired after 30 years of service.
Mr. Cone lived in Lewiston and later came to Moscow, where he has made his home since and was cared for by his granddaughter.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping in the Northwest.
Survivors include two daughters; one brother; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jaylene Wernecke; and two brothers, Marvin and Wilbur Cone.
A covered-dish dinner and storytelling for family and close friends will be conducted at 4 p.m. today at 411 N. Almon, No. 405, in Moscow.
