Larry G. Burnell, 73, of McMinnville, Ore., passed away Aug. 1, 2012, at Adventist Hospital in Portland, Ore. Larry was born Dec. 22, 1938, to Laverne G. Burnell and Rose Warlick Burnell in Lewiston.
Larry grew up in Clarkston, graduating in 1957 from Clarkston High School. He had a deep love for engines of all kinds and worked for several garages as a mechanic.
Then in 1966, Larry married Cathy Moody. They lived in and around Genesee for several years; in 1975 they moved to Coeur d'Alene so he could take on a new job.
Larry worked for Briggs and Stratton, Kohler and Tecumseh as a traveling instructor for small engine repair workshops. The company then moved them to Oregon in 1988, where he remained.
Larry and Cathy divorced in 1997 but remained close friends. After retirement in 2003 he continued working on small engines. He took pride in what he did and was very mindful of being a good neighbor to all. His strong faith in God was what helped him throughout his life.
Larry is survived by his ex-wife, Cathy; six children, Aaron Burnell, Rebekah Burnell, Erik Burnell, Jennifer Wilson, Mark Burnell and Amanda Burnell; 11 grandchildren, all of Oregon; and two sisters, Sharon Burnell and Mary (Leon) Edwards, both of Genesee.
Cremation has taken place and no services will be held at his request.
