Gerald William Bugh, 84, Viola

Gerald William Bugh, 84, of Viola, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at his sister's home in Deary, due to respiratory illness.

Gerald was born April 6, 1927, to Anna Fredrickson Bugh and Ray Bugh in Troy. He attended Miller Trestle School and Troy High School. In June 1945, Gerald enlisted in the U.S. Army and spent his time serving in Germany. When he returned from his tour of duty, he worked in the woods as a sawyer for Potlatch Forests.

He married Merna Batey in April 1950. They moved to Clarkston and later to the Lewiston Orchards, where he worked at Potlatch sawmill. Later they moved to the Viola area, where he worked at the mill in Potlatch for several years. He then worked as a custodian at the University of Idaho until his retirement.

He is survived by two younger sisters; stepdaughter; and many other step-grandchildren, great-step grandchildren and great-great-step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Merna; his brother, Raymond; and his parents, Anna and Ray Bugh.

Per Gerald's request, there will be no funeral.

Rest in peace, brother.
