Obituary - Lawrence E. Brown

Lawrence E. Brown, 89, retired letter carrier

MOSCOW -- Lawrence E. Brown, 89, a longtime Genesee resident, died Thursday evening at Good Samaritan Village here of causes related to age.

He was born to Walter and Ida Ross Brown on Sept. 26, 1898, at Dover, Ark. The family moved west when he was 5 years old, settling at Spokane.

He married Amy Elva Dyche July 3, 1919, at Coeur d'Alene. She died in May of 1981.

He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service at Spokane and continued as a Star Route carrier between Genesee and Pullman from 1938 until retiring in 1976.

Brown enjoyed children, fishing, hunting and was past master of the Masonic Lodge at Genesee.

He also was a member of the Genesee Community Church.

Survivors include a son, Lawrence E. Brown Jr. of Spokane; two daughters, Betty Jean Hickman of Lewiston and Glenna Gae Teichmer of Spokane; three sisters, Lalla Finrow and Rosetta Woodard, both of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Mary Shields of California; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Genesee Community Church with the Rev. Roger Herndon officiating.

Burial will follow at the Genesee City Cemetery with ritual services conducted by the Genesee Masonic Lodge.

The family has suggested that memorials be given to the Genesee Community Church.

Short's Funeral Chapel at Moscow is in charge of funeral arrangements.
