Obituary - Amy Brown

Amy Brown, 80, of Genesee

GENESEE -- Amy Elva Brown, 80, a resident of Genesee the past 43 years, died Saturday at 10:35 p.m. at Gritman Memorial Hospital in Moscow. Death was attributed to leukemia.

Mrs. Brown was a retired cook in the Genesee school lunch program. She retired in 1962 after a 19-year career. She was one of the first cooks hired when the district initiated a hot lunch program.

She was a member of the Genesee Community Church and Lily Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.

The daughter of Thomas and Charlotta Dyche, she was born Jan. 12, 1901, at Pomeroy, Wash. She was married to Lawrence E. Brown at Coeur d'Alene, July 3, 1919. A retired mail truck driver, he survives at the Genesee home.

Also surviving are two daughters, Betty J. Hickman of Lewiston and Glenna G. Teichmer of Genesee; a son, Lawrence E. Brown Jr., of Seattle; a sister, Lula Lathen of Centralia, Wash.; two brothers, Thomas Dyche of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Hubert Dyche of Green Acres, Wash., nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Genesee Community Church. Burial will be in the Genesee City Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Short's Chapel of Moscow is in charge of arrangements.
