Vladimir Borek, 58, a resident of Moscow for 19 years, died suddenly Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011.
Vladimir grew up in Horni Jeleni, a small town in the Czech Republic. He attended Charles University in Prague and received a doctorate in chemistry. His expertise allowed him to get a job at the University of Idaho as a researcher. He came to Moscow to work at the University of Idaho Plant, Soil, and Entomology Department in 1992.
Vladimir was a person who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed travel, fishing, boating, hunting and camping, and he loved the Idaho countryside for all that it offered in this respect. He shared his love of the outdoors with his family. Vladimir also enjoyed gardening, and was often so successful growing seasonal fruits and veggies that many friends and neighbors shared in his abundant harvest.
Vladimir is survived by his wife; son; daughter; two grandchildren; and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vladimir Borek and Drahomira Borkova; and his younger brother, Jaroslav Borek.
A private family burial will precede an open house for friends, co-workers, and neighbors to come to share memories of Vladimir with his family. This event will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, at the Boreks' residence. No flowers, please. If you would like to make a charitable donation in Vladimir's name, please make it to palousecares.org.
