The Rev. John Edwin Anderson of Camrose, Alberta, Canada, passed away early Sunday morning,
Sept. 18, 2011, after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.
He will be forever missed and joyfully remembered by his wife, daughters, stepdaughters,
grandchildren and their respective spouses; as well as many other family and friends.
John's greatest joy was serving his Lord and Saviour during his lifetime of ministry.
John was born March 11, 1937, in Troy, the youngest son of Ernest and Helen Kellberg Anderson.
He graduated from Troy High School and Pacific Lutheran University, where he majored in German.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Choosing to enter the ministry, he enrolled in Luther Seminary in Chicago. His intern year was
spent in Germany. His ordination was conducted at the Troy Lutheran Church before leaving for
his first parish, a German congregation in Barhead, Alberta, Canada. His entire career as a
pastor was spent in Canada.
In the United States he is survived by his two sisters of Oxnard, Calif., and Renton, Wash.;
a brother of Troy; as wells as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in
death by his parents and brother, Ernest LaVerne.
Cremation has taken place. A prayer service was conducted Friday at Bethel Lutheran Church
in Camrose in his memory. A funeral service was conducted Saturday at Messiah Lutheran, also in Camrose.
