Georgette S. Amos, 84, of Moscow died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, of an apparent heart attack. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moscow. Arrangements are under the direction of Short's Funeral Chapel of Moscow.

Georgette S. Amos, 84, Moscow

Georgette S. Amos, 84, died Friday morning, Sept. 15, 2000, at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow after suffering a heart attack.

She was born Dec. 21, 1915, at St. Louis, Mo., to Clyde K. and Agnes Hanley Stiff. She grew up and attended school at St. Louis and graduated from an Arcadia, Mo., boarding school.

Georgette began her nursing career by receiving training at Missouri Baptist Hospital for three years.

She and Harold C. Amos were married in St. Louis on Jan. 25, 1942. In 1945, they moved to Lincoln, Neb., where she worked at Bryant Memorial Hospital until 1954, when they moved to Moscow. Mr. Amos was associated with the University of Idaho's industrial education department and she went to work at Gritman Hospital, working primarily in labor and delivery, retiring from there in 1981 after 26 years.

Throughout the years, she attended the University of Idaho and graduated in 1985 with a degree in history. Georgette also was active in the university and community theaters, acting and directing several productions. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Retired University Wives.

Mr. Amos died in April 1976.

Surviving are three sons, Terry Amos of Moscow, Kevin Amos of Olympia and Douglas Amos of St. Paul, Minn.; two daughters, Rosemary Huskey of Moscow and Marjorie Freeman of Caldwell; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. by the Rev. Joseph Schmidt.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Church or to the Moscow Food Bank.

Services are under the direction of Short's Funeral Chapel, Moscow.
