My brother showed me a "The Palouse Country" brochure in which it said that Troy, Idaho had originally been known as "Huff's Gulch". Can anyone tell me why this was. I'm interested since my maiden name was Huff. Also, my great grandfather, Martin Van Buren Huff, and his 2nd wife and their family moved to Cottonwood, Idaho Co., Idaho in 1902 and of course, that is after Troy was named Vollmer. I often wondered why MVB Huff moved to Idaho in the first place and was wondering if there was already a relative there. Anyway, could anyone tell me why it was named "Huff's Gulch"? Thank you.
